The Sacrificial Altar faces South, symbolizing prosperity and smoothness. The overall shape of the altar is square with a length and width of 3 meters and a total area of 9 square meters, which verifies one old Chinese saying “nine times nine makes one, or the Dao.”The altar symbolizes Shuang gou Liquor Ltd. inherits the Dao, and honors Taoism. The Sacrificial Altar applies five colors to pave its top floor, indicating the five kinds of soil, a symbol of big China with blue in the east representing the sea, white in the west as the white sand, red in the south as red land, black in the north as black land, and yellow in the middle as the Loess Plateau. The five color soil is also a symbol of the five elements of metal, wood, water, fire and earth(considered as basic substances to constitute the universe in ancient China ) and directions of east south west north and middle, suggesting that the brand of Shuang’gou will be traveling to every corner of the world and lasting forever.
The sacrifice ritual is part and parcel of ancient people, and sacrifice culture the most important part of Chinese culture. According to Records of the Grand History of China, “it is Dao, or the law of nature that everything grows in Spring, booms in Summer, harvests in Fall, and withers in Winter.” Shuang’gou Liquor Group also inherits this law by preparing the fermenting grains in spring, undergoing the fermentation in summer, opening up the fermentation in the fall, and sealing the liquor in winter. The company builds up this sacrificial altar to show gratitude to God of Millet and the forerunner of the Shuangou Liquor Zhu Tiangang back to the Ming Dynasty. On this altar we worship the God of Millet in early Spring when the world awakes in the hope of a harvest, worship Emperor Yu and God of River in early Fall when the weather cools down so as to wish for a favorable year, and then worship our ancestor Zhu Tiangang in middle winter for creating this legendary liquor.
